About Me

With a skillful eye for capturing the essence of her subjects and a talent that has been diligently honed over the years, along with a level of professionalism, confidence and experience that is sure to impress, Tameka Pero is quickly becoming a much sought after photographer.
Born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Tameka now lives in Atlanta, Georgia, where there is no shortage of photo opportunities.

Tameka is a seasoned photographic artist whose camera lens always manages to capture the beauty, emotion, detail and essence of her subjects. Specializing in portraiture, editorial and fine art photography, her portfolio also includes such notable celebrities and musical artists such as actress Keisha Knight-Pulliam for the cover of How We Live Magazine (Spring-Summer 2009 issue), trumpeter Melvin Jones (artwork on his cd “Pivot”), and Dr. Robert Franklin, President of Morehouse College for Gospel Tribune Magazine.

In 2009, Tameka had the incredible opportunity of covering two highly recognized and coveted events: the Soul Train Music Awards and the Essence Music Festival, where she captured some of the most eminent entertainers in the industry. In addition, she has also photographed highlights at the Atlanta Football Classic, Doug Williams Football Camp, Honda Battle of the Bands and, more recently, the 42nd Annual GMA Dove Awards.

Tameka became interested in photography in high school and has always had a love for the arts. “I got my very first 35mm film camera as a graduation present,” says Tameka. “I later put the camera down and then took a second look in 2006 when I got my first digital SLR.” Encouraged by a friend to learn how to work her new “toy,” Tameka was up to the challenge. She took some continuing education classes, but wanted more. “I sought out a photography program and ended up at Gwinnett Technical College and the ride began!”

Tameka’s photography has been exhibited at the ACP Push Pin Exhibition – My Atlanta, where she was awarded 3rd place in the Adults’ category in 2009 and was a 2010 Finalist in the Photographer’s Forum-Best of Photography. With a B.S. in Marketing from Southern University in Baton Rouge and an Associate Degree in Commercial Photography from Gwinnett Technical College in Lawrenceville, Ga., Tameka was armed with confidence, skill and a natural talent to capture the unique visual nuances of her focus. “Photography has taken me on a ride and I’m enjoying the adventure!”
